Month Command (Yue Ling) — Seasonal State

The month branch sets each element's seasonal state — prosperous, supported, resting, trapped or dead — the heaviest input to judging a day master.

看月令法一
大凡㸔命先㸔月支有无财官方㸔其他月令为命也月取支神年取天干日取天干流岁取天干大运取支神年为本日为主如月有正官及偏官而时又入他格只以月中取他格无用如月令全无可用方㸔他格三宫带格混难详不晓凭谁是贵方一任三宫皆带格除非
财、官、印、杀、食神、伤官，此六乃日干月令。
八字用神,专求月令,以日干配月令地支,而生克不同,格局分焉。
如木火透者，生寅月聚得真，不要金水乱之，则真神得用，不为忌神所害，必然发贵，如金水猖狂，而用金水，是金水不得令，徒与木火不和，乃为碌碌平庸人矣。
