The Life K-Line
Your BaZi luck cycles and passing years, computed into one interactive candlestick chart of a whole life — each bar a year, each span a ten-year luck cycle. Free with signup.
Above: real engine output for a sample chart (born 1971, male) — 108 years across 10 luck cycles, every bar scored on the full [大运, 流年] stack. Click any year for its pillars and verdict band.
Every year resolves to a number
The engine is not content with “a good year”. It returns a score from −100 to +100, a verdict in five bands from 大吉 to 大凶, and then breaks that year into four separately-scored domains: career, wealth, relationships, health.
The number is not a rhetorical flourish. Each year's clashes, combinations, harms, and shensha interactions are tallied individually, and the ones that moved the score most are listed as its key interactions — so you can read back why a year scored what it did.

地支午(火)=忌神 · 天干丙(火)=忌神
Above is the sample chart's current year (2026, 丙午) — not a hand-picked good one, just where this chart is right now. The engine gives it -100 · 大凶 and lists the interactions that produced it. Bad years are reported plainly too — that is the difference from the “98% accurate” genre.
The chart marks its own turning points
A turning-point marker names a year where the trend of your fortune changes gear — from a sustained favorable run into a phase of pressure, or out of a long trough into recovery. Around these years the shifts in circumstance, mood, and opportunity tend to be more noticeable than in ordinary years, which makes them the first places to look when you review the past or plan ahead.
A stretch of high years means the structure of the luck cycles runs in your favor — a time suited to initiative and new undertakings. A stretch of low years is a pressure phase, better met by consolidating and building reserves. Note that the markers predict no specific events: they only point to the years where the trend shifts, as a reference for pacing your decisions.

The same year scores differently in another decade
This is what 运 actually means. A year never counts alone: it always falls inside a ten-year luck cycle, and the score is decided by the two layers together. The same 甲子 year, placed under a different decade, can come out the other way round.
So the K-Line is not eighty independent years lined up; it is a curve with a background. The years before 起运 are scored against the first decade and labelled as pre-起运 on the chart — we don't pretend those years are the same kind of thing as the ones after.

Computed first, written second
Computed first, written second: the deterministic engine casts the pillars, strength, pattern, useful god, and luck decades, then scores every year of the life inside its enclosing decade on a −100 to +100 scale. The written reading is composed only on top of those fixed results and changes no computed conclusion. The same input always yields the same pillars and the same scores — reproducible, checkable.
① Cast the chart
The deterministic engine casts the pillars, strength, pattern, and useful god, then derives the life's luck decades. No AI is involved in this step.
② Score every year
Each year is placed inside its enclosing decade and scored on the full [大运, 流年] stack, with the four domain bands. The chart is that sequence of numbers.
③ Write the readings
After signup you can explicitly generate the one-line readings for your own chart. The AI writes on top of the fixed scores and may not change them — and nothing is ever charged automatically.
- Four Pillars & hidden stems
- Year, month, day, and hour pillars cast on true solar time and bracketed by solar terms — never by lunar months — with the branches' hidden stems.
- Ten gods
- Each year's heavenly stem read against the Day Master as one of the ten gods.
- Shensha
- The shensha each annual pillar triggers, computed per year and fed into that year's rating events.
- Useful-god lens
- The K-Line scores through the pattern (格局) lens — the 正格 matrix in the 子平真诠 line. The 扶抑 and 调候 lenses are switchable inside the app's luck-cycle view.
- Luck-cycle layout
- Decades laid out forward or backward with the 起运 age; years before 起运 are scored against the first decade as background and labelled as such.
- Annual rating
- Scored −100 to +100 on the full [大运, 流年] stack and sorted into the five verdict bands.
- Four domains
- Each year also carries separate scores and bands for career, wealth, relationships, and health.
- Key interactions
- The clashes, combinations, and harms that moved the score most, surfaced as that year's readable grounds.
- Unknown hour
- Without the hour, the chart is computed on three pillars and labelled as such.
The pattern and useful-god framework behind the scoring follows the 取格 approach of 子平真诠 (Shen Xiaozhan); the 调候 lens draws on 穷通宝鉴. The engine validates 125/125 against its reference corpus.
Frequently asked questions
How is the Life K-Line computed?
A deterministic engine first casts the Four Pillars — corrected to true solar time, bracketed by solar terms — and derives the luck decades. Every year of the life is then scored inside the decade that encloses it, through the chart's pattern-based useful god, on a −100 to +100 scale sorted into five bands. Each bar is one such year. The whole curve is reproducible: the same birth data always yields the same chart.
About luck cycles →How is this different from other Life K-Line generators?
Three concrete differences. First, the scores come from a standalone BaZi engine — pillars, ten gods, shensha, and luck cycles can all be recomputed and checked, rather than improvised by a language model. Second, a sample chart is on this page: anyone can inspect the year-by-year data before signing up. Third, the same computation serves Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English. We publish no accuracy percentage — a fortune score cannot be falsified, and any product quoting '98% accurate' is quoting a number that measures nothing.
Is the Life K-Line free?
Yes. After signup every chart you save carries its full Life K-Line — no credits, no limit. The chart overview and luck-cycle views are free too. Only the Life Report, the yearly report, and the compatibility report are paid readings, bought one at a time.
See pricing →Can I generate it without my birth time?
Yes. With the hour unknown the engine works from the year, month, and day pillars, and the chart is labelled 'birth time unknown · three-pillar basis'. The luck cycles and yearly scores still hold, but without the hour pillar the readings around later life and children weaken accordingly — a limit we print on the chart rather than hide.
What do the red and green bars mean?
Green is auspicious, red is inauspicious: years scoring positive are drawn green, negative years red, with the darker shade for the 大吉 / 大凶 extremes. Note this is the opposite of the Chinese stock-market convention (红涨绿跌) — we colour by score polarity, not price direction. Bar height carries the information; colour only reinforces it.
