天气始于甲干地气始于子支者乃圣人究乎阴阳重轻之用也著名以彰其徳立号以表其事由是干甲相合然后成纪远可步于岁而统六十年近可推于日而明十二时岁运之盈虚气令之早晏万物生死由今验古或得而知之非特是也将攷其细而知未萌之祸福究其用而察向往之死生则精微之义可谓大矣哉是以东方甲乙南方丙丁西方庚辛北方壬癸中央戊巳五行之位也盖甲乙其位木得春之令甲乃阳内而阴尚包之草木始甲而出也乙者阳过中然未得正方尚乙屈也又云乙轧也万物皆解莩甲自抽轧而出之丙丁其位火行夏之令丙乃阳上而阴下阴内而阳外阳丁其强适能与阴气相丁又云丙炳也万物皆炳然着见而强大戊巳其位土行周四季戊阳土也万物生而出之万物伐而入之己阴土也无所为而得巳者也又云戊茂也已起也土行四季之末万物含秀者抑屈而起也庚辛其位金行秋之令庚乃阴干阳更而续者也辛乃阳在下阴在上阴干阳极于此庚更故也而辛新也庚辛皆金金味辛物成而后有味又云万物肃然更改秀实新成壬癸其位水行冬之令壬之言任也壬乃阳生之位壬而为胎万物怀妊于壬与子同意癸者揆也天令至此万物闭藏怀妊于其下揆然萌芽此天之道也以为日名焉故经曰天有十日日六竟而周甲者此也盖天地之数甲丙戊庚壬为阳乙丁己辛癸为阴五行各一阴一阳故有十日也
