按王氏所谓二气者阴阳也五行者金木水火土也时者春夏秋冬也地者冀青兖徐扬荆梁雍豫也盖天有阴阳行于四时地有五行具于九州正朱子所谓五行质具于地气行于天故天有春夏秋冬地有金木水火皆以时地相为用也今之谈命者但知论阴阳五行而不知兼论方隅与昼夜阴晴所以有年日月时同而贵贱寿夭逈异便谓五行无据启世人不信命之疑亦诬矣嗟夫人生天地莫迯五行九州分疆风气异宜阴晴寒暖理难一律人禀天地灵气以生一时得气各自不同所以贵贱寿夭难以八字拘也且以甲乙寅卯属木生于兖青为得地春令为得时丙丁己午属火生于徐扬为得地夏令为得时戊巳辰戌丑未属土生于豫州为得地四季月为得时庚辛申酉属金生于荆梁为得地秋冬为得时壬癸亥子属水生于冀雍为得地冬令为得时况昼夜阴晴之间有寒有暖阴阳造化之内有喜有忌生尅制化抑扬轻重妙在识其通变不可执一论也
