本命年通常指生肖地支与流年年支相同的年份，也就是生肖层面的值太岁。它提示自我定位和责任主题被放大。

譬之人臣也，行君之令者即主行月令，提纲所起之运也，言君者，即本命年庚也。
凡太岁生本命年，事多遂心。
得胜，何日时贼来何方，何日时埋伏何处，何日时奏凯成功，皆预可知也，欲知人事成败得失，随时演遁，可欲知人生寿夭、穷通，则取本命年月日时演布，而妻财子禄，富贵、贫贱、寿夭，皆可知矣，凡物器之破损、成败、久暂，则以所得之日时，或方见之时、或取物形之长短方圆，按五行所属配合遁时，则器物损坏日时、被窃盗可预知
