Period 8 — Eight White Gen Earth (2004–2023)

Period 8, the Eight White Gen Earth period, covers 2004–2023, the second period of the Lower Cycle and the one immediately before the current Period 9. It corresponds to the Gen trigram, the Earth element, the northeast, and the Zuo Fu star. Gen is the mountain and the youngest son — stability, accumulation, real property. Traditional readings connect the period with land development and real estate; the connection is a tendency reading in the Xuankong tradition, not a causal statement.
