BaZi Chart Analysis
Li Ka-shing — BaZi Chart Analysis
Li Ka-shing (1928–) is one of the most emblematic business figures in the Chinese-speaking world. Born in Chao’an, Chaozhou, he fled war to Hong Kong as a youth and rose from low-wage work to build the Cheung Kong and Hutchison conglomerate. His groups have spanned real estate, ports, retail, telecoms, energy and utilities, at times making up a major share of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange’s total market value.
The chart, as computed
Every pillar below is computed by this site's engine from the birth date on file, using the solar terms rather than the Gregorian month — so the Month pillar changes at the 節 boundary, not on the 1st. Nothing in this reading was written before the chart was computed.
| Pillar | 干支 | Romanised | Ten God |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year | 戊辰 | Wu Chen | Pian Yin |
| Month | 己未 | Ji Wei | Zheng Yin |
| Day | 庚午 | Geng Wu | Day Master |
Day Master: 庚 (Geng, yang Metal). The engine reads this chart's day master as balanced, in a 正印格 (Zheng Yin) structure — a chart organised around support, learning and backing.
No birth hour is on record for Li Ka-shing. The hour pillar is therefore omitted rather than guessed, and nothing in this reading depends on it — no hour-branch relation, no luck-cycle direction, and no claim that would need the fourth pillar to stand up. Three pillars is a smaller chart, not a less accurate one.
What the ten gods put where
- Year stem — 偏印 (Pian Yin): unorthodox support — self-taught, oblique, private.
- Month stem — 正印 (Zheng Yin): orthodox support — study, mentors, credentials.
The Ten Gods are relational labels, not qualities: each one names how a stem stands to the Day Master, so the same 干支 means something different in a different chart. That is why the table above is worth more than any general description of Geng people.
The branch relations the engine found
- 六合 · a six-harmony bond — 午 (Wu) / 未 (Wei), in the day and month branches, resolving to Fire. Two branches binding to each other, which stabilises but also ties.
Reading it
A balanced Geng Metal day master in a Zheng Yin structure, with Pian Yin on the year and Zheng Yin on the month — resource doubled, and of both the orthodox and unorthodox kinds. A balanced day master in a Yin structure is among the most stable configurations the system recognises, classically associated with accumulation that compounds rather than arrives. The Wu–Wei six-harmony resolving to Fire is the chart's single combination, binding the month and day. No birth hour is recorded, so the hour pillar and anything that would depend on it are omitted.
What this page does not claim
Two limits, stated rather than implied. First, this describes a chart, not a person: no claim is made that the configuration produced any event in the public record. Second, the reading was written from the chart forward, never from the biography backward — fitting a chart to a known life is the failure mode this genre is most prone to. Unknown birth hours are left unknown.
This is not a substitute for medical, financial or legal advice.
Work out your own chart
To compare this against your own chart, run it through the BaZi chart calculator — it uses the same solar-term boundaries as the table above. Definitions for anything unfamiliar are in the BaZi glossary, and the celebrity index lists the other charted figures.
Birth data as held on file: 1928-07-29, hour unknown. The birth-data source is cited on the Chinese edition of this page.
