John F. Kennedy — BaZi Chart Analysis
John F. Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, was the youngest person ever elected to the office and the first Catholic president. Born into the prominent Kennedy family and educated at Harvard, he became a decorated naval officer in the Pacific during World War II, then served in both the House and Senate.
The chart, as computed
The chart below is computed rather than looked up. Solar terms set the Month pillar and 立春 sets the Year pillar, so neither follows the Gregorian calendar, and a birth date close to either boundary lands differently than a naive reading of the date would suggest.
| Pillar | 干支 | Romanised | Ten God |
|---|---|---|---|
| Year | 丁巳 | Ding Si | Qi Sha |
| Month | 乙巳 | Yi Si | Pian Cai |
| Day | 辛未 | Xin Wei | Day Master |
| Hour | 丙申 | Bing Shen | Zheng Guan |
Day Master: 辛 (Xin, yin Metal). The engine reads this chart's day master as somewhat weak, in a 正官格 (Zheng Guan) structure — a chart organised around office and legitimate standing.
This is one of the minority of profiles here with a recorded birth hour, so all four pillars are computed and the hour column below is real rather than inferred.
What the ten gods put where
- Year stem — 七杀 (Qi Sha): pressure — authority experienced as force.
- Month stem — 偏财 (Pian Cai): opportunistic wealth — the deal rather than the salary.
- Hour stem — 正官 (Zheng Guan): legitimate authority — office, rules, reputation.
Read the gods as positions rather than personalities. Each label describes the relationship between a stem and the Day Master, so it is chart-relative by construction: move the day master and every god in the chart changes. This is the reason a per-chart table beats any generic account of Xin.
The branch relations the engine found
- 六合 · a six-harmony bond — 巳 (Si) / 申 (Shen), in the year and hour branches, resolving to Water. Two branches binding to each other, which stabilises but also ties.
- 六破 · a break — 巳 (Si) / 申 (Shen), in the year and hour branches. A destabilising relation, weaker than a clash.
Reading it
A somewhat weak Xin Metal day master in a Zheng Guan structure, with Qi Sha on the year, Pian Cai on the month and Zheng Guan on the hour — the authority axis appearing twice, in both its legitimate and its forceful register. The Si–Shen pair does two things at once, a six-harmony resolving to Water and a break, which is one of the genuinely ambiguous configurations the engine reports. A weak day master carrying doubled authority is classically read as a chart placed in office it must grow into rather than one it grew from.
What this page does not claim
This is interpretation of a computed configuration, and the boundary matters. Nothing above says the chart caused anything, and nothing above was reverse-engineered from what the subject is known to have done. Where the birth hour is not on record, the hour pillar is absent rather than estimated.
This is not a substitute for medical, financial or legal advice.
Work out your own chart
If you want the same table for yourself, the BaZi chart calculator computes it from a birth date and time. Terms are defined in the BaZi glossary; other charted figures are indexed at celebrity charts.
Birth data as held on file: 1917-05-29, hour 15. The birth-data source is cited on the Chinese edition of this page.
