Jack Ma — BaZi Chart Analysis

Jack Ma (1964–), born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, is a defining figure of China's Internet business era and a prominent entrepreneur–philanthropist. After taking the gaokao three times, he graduated in English from Hangzhou Normal University in 1988 and taught as a lecturer before moving into business.

The chart, as computed

The pillars below came out of the engine, not out of a reference table. The Month pillar turns on the 節 (the odd solar terms) rather than on the calendar month, which is why a birth in the first days of a Gregorian month often belongs to the previous 干支 month. The reading was written after the chart, never before it.

Day Master: 壬 (Ren, yang Water). The engine reads this chart's day master as somewhat weak, in a 正印格 (Zheng Yin) structure — a chart organised around support, learning and backing.

• 六冲 · a direct clash — 辰 (Chen) / 戌 (Xu), in the year and day branches. Opposition between two branches — the classic marker of a position that will not hold still.
• 六害 · a harm — 酉 (You) / 戌 (Xu), in the month and day branches. A friction relation — attrition rather than collision.

Reading it

A somewhat weak Ren Water day master in a Zheng Yin structure, with Shi Shen on the year and Jie Cai on the month. Three branch relations run through the same corner — a Chen–You six-harmony to Metal, a Chen–Xu clash, and a You–Xu harm — so the chart's support and its instability share a position. Classically a weak day master with印 support and a clash on the same axis is read as a chart that depends on backing and keeps having to renew it.
