Elon Musk — BaZi Chart Analysis

Elon Musk (1971–) was born in Pretoria, South Africa, and later emigrated to Canada and then the United States. He co-founded Zip2 and X.com (which later became part of PayPal), and went on to lead SpaceX, Tesla, X, and xAI, reshaping industries from online payments and electric vehicles to reusable rockets and AI. Since 2025 he has consistently ranked as the world’s wealthiest person, with a net worth in the hundreds of billions of dollars.

The chart, as computed

The chart below is computed rather than looked up. Solar terms set the Month pillar and 立春 sets the Year pillar, so neither follows the Gregorian calendar, and a birth date close to either boundary lands differently than a naive reading of the date would suggest.

Day Master: 甲 (Jia, yang Wood). The engine reads this chart's day master as somewhat weak, in a 伤官格 (Shang Guan) structure — a chart organised around expressive talent that resists constraint.

Reading it

A somewhat weak Jia Wood day master with Shang Guan on the month is the configuration a traditional reading treats as talent that will not sit inside an existing structure — output first, permission afterwards. What makes the chart unusual is that the Zheng Guan on the year sits directly opposite that: legitimate authority is present in the chart and is the thing the Shang Guan keeps running into. The hidden bond between Wu and Hai and the embraced Shen–Chen water frame both point the same way, toward resource that has to be assembled from parts that are not adjacent. Read descriptively rather than causally, this is a chart whose difficulty and whose leverage are the same feature.
