Alan Turing — BaZi Chart Analysis

Alan Turing was an English mathematician, logician and one of the founders of computer science, widely regarded as the father of theoretical computer science. He formalised the notion of algorithm and computation with the Turing machine, and during World War II led Hut 8 at Bletchley Park, playing a central role in breaking German naval ciphers and producing Ultra intelligence that shaped the Allied war effort.

The chart, as computed

These four columns are engine output. Two things about the method matter: the Month pillar is cut by solar term rather than by calendar month, and the Year pillar turns at 立春 rather than at New Year — both of which move a chart for anyone born near a boundary. The prose follows the chart.

Day Master: 庚 (Geng, yang Metal). The engine reads this chart's day master as very weak, in a 从杀格 (Cong Sha) structure — a follow-the-power structure — the chart yields to pressure rather than resisting it.

What the ten gods put where

• Year stem — 食神 (Shi Shen): the output — expression, craft, ease of production.
• Month stem — 七杀 (Qi Sha): pressure — authority experienced as force.
• Hour stem — 正官 (Zheng Guan): legitimate authority — office, rules, reputation.

Read the gods as positions rather than personalities. Each label describes the relationship between a stem and the Day Master, so it is chart-relative by construction: move the day master and every god in the chart changes. This is the reason a per-chart table beats any generic account of Geng.

The branch relations the engine found

• 六合 · a six-harmony bond — 子 (Zi) / 丑 (Chou), in the year and hour branches, resolving to Earth. Two branches binding to each other, which stabilises but also ties.
• 六冲 · a direct clash — 子 (Zi) / 午 (Wu), in the year and month branches. Opposition between two branches — the classic marker of a position that will not hold still.
• 六害 · a harm — 丑 (Chou) / 午 (Wu), in the hour and month branches. A friction relation — attrition rather than collision.
• 自刑 · a self-punishment — 午 (Wu) / 午 (Wu), in the month and day branches. A branch repeated against itself.

Reading it

A Cong Sha structure on a very weak Geng Metal day master: the follow-the-power reading, where the chart yields to the pressure in it rather than standing against it. The branch layer is the most contested in this cohort — a Zi–Chou six-harmony to Earth, a Zi–Wu clash, a Chou–Wu harm and a Wu–Wu self-punishment, four relations on three branches. Shi Shen on the year and Qi Sha on the month put output directly beneath pressure. Classically a follow structure with this much branch friction is read as a chart that works at its best inside a system it did not design, and is damaged by the system rather than by the work.

What this page does not claim

A BaZi chart is a symbolic framework for reading temperament and timing, not an explanation of a life. Everything above describes a configuration; none of it asserts that the configuration caused any documented event, and no reading here works backwards from a known biography to a chart feature that would have predicted it. Public birth records are also imperfect — where the hour is unknown, this page says so rather than assigning one.
