Why Bazi Compatibility Needs Both Birth Charts

The term 只有一方八字 refers to a situation where only one person’s four pillars are available for analysis, while the other person’s birth data is incomplete or entirely missing. In the context of relationship or compatibility reading, this creates a specific boundary: a single chart can be read on its own, but a true combined reading cannot be performed.

The reason is structural. A combined reading takes both charts as input. None of this can be derived from one chart by itself.

The distinction is not about interpretive skill. It is about input completeness. The method does not allow a relationship reading from one side, because the object being read is not present. A single chart can be read as a standalone structure, and that is all.
