The Taboo God (忌神, jì shén) is the element or stem-branch in your chart that damages your Useful God (用神—the favorable force supporting your Day Master) or directly weakens your Day Master. Where the Useful God strengthens your core, the Taboo God drains it. If your Day Master is Yin Wood and Metal appears prominently, Metal becomes your Taboo God because Metal cuts Wood. When the Taboo God activates or strengthens, beneficial patterns collapse and difficulty follows.

The weaker and more controlled your Taboo God, the more stable your favorable outcomes. A strong, uncontrolled Taboo God drains the Useful God's potency and locks the entire chart into struggle. Identifying the Taboo God in Your Chart

Recognition requires two sequential steps:

Pinpoint your Day Master and Useful God first

Locate the Taboo God
The Taboo God is whichever element damages your Useful God or Day Master through the Five Element cycle. Assess its strength

The Taboo God's influence on timing is direct: when a major luck cycle or annual stem-branch aligns with or activates your Taboo God, expect the Useful God to suffer suppression.
